Professional Toolbox license may be used only by people working for, or in, the name of the company to which the license was originally sold (the company registration or VAT number will be used as a reference). For professional independant consultants, please ask your client to also purchase a professional license if their own employees are to use all or any of the templates or tools in the Toolbox.
About the Toolbox
The downloadable ‘Toolbox’ is made up of a whole variety of templates, workshops and tools to help you carry out your change management assignments. Each template is linked to a specific section of ‘The Change Manager’s Handbook’ where it’s usage and significance is explained. These templates can also be used in stand-alone projects.
All the templates, tools and workshops have actually been used by me in real life projects (ranging from small process change projects to giant global SAP implementations and in company turn-around and mergers and acquisitions assignments).
For some of the templates you can just add your logo and go, for others you will need to make them your own. For example; no change management or communication plan can ever be copied from one project to the next but the template, with some of its ideas and content, can be.
If you have never managed a change management project, or ever built a communication plan before – with these templates you will at least have a basis to start from that you can trust, knowing that they have been successfully used on many projects before.

What’s in the toolbox?
01: Change Management Activities per phase – in MS PowerPoint: a high level overview of some the most common change management activities that you can adapt to suit your project.
02: Project Charter Template – MS Word: This is a vital documents to make sure your change project gets off to a good start. It is ready to go. Just add your logo and fill in the rest.
03: Project Charter ‘One Pager’ and Business Case – MS PowerPoint with embedded MS Excel spreadsheet: This is a very simple template but it does the job. Many of my clients use it for their change projects.
04: Self-Assessment skills matrix chart – MS PowerPoint: a very useful template to use in a group workshop. With this tool you can discover so much about your group in just a few minutes. Just ask each person to fill in a sheet and then ask them to give a blank sheet to a friend or colleague to fill it in on their behalf. You’ll be surprised how much the members of the group will discover about themselves and each other. A very powerful and useful tool.
05: Team rules Workshop – MS PowerPoint: Just add your logo and a couple of extra pictures and follow the instructions in the book and you are ready to go!
06: Team Rules example – MS Word: The findings of one of my group’s team rules exercise (see the section in the book). This is a useful bench mark to check that nothing is over-looked
07: Change Management high level plan – MS PowerPoint: A very basic plan that you will need to add your own actions too. Just something to get you started if you have never made one before. Do not pay attention to the contents but to the style and simplicity of the template itself. You may want to customize it and make it your own.
08: Detailed Change Management plan – MS Project: This can only be used if you have MS Project on your computer. It gives you a full idea of how I integrate change management activities with high-level communications activities. It is taken from a global multi-million dollar global SAP project.
09: ‘Organisational Readiness’ deck – MS PowerPoint: The base template you need to ensure you and your organization know exactly how to measure when they are ready to implement an important change
10: Communication Plan – MS Project: A detailed Communication Plan to inspire you for the right actions and how to set them up into the right framework. You must have MS Project installed on your PC for this template
11: Communication Plan – MS Excel: A really nice, easy to use Communication Plan to add your content to. You will need to adapt your content this template, like all the plans are for you to build from.
12: Communication template – MS Word: Probably the most valuable template of all. It is very simple, but follow it carefully and you will always make sure that your communications are well structured and ‘to the point’. A must for all people writing communications!
13: Communications content approval process – MS PowerPoint: A very basic flow chart from which you can build your own (or make one in MS Visio, or similar). The importance is to consider: What are the steps you need to take for which kind of communication to obtain the necessary approvals? Don’t forget to add the timeframes allowed for each step, to speed up the approval process.
14: Network spreadsheet – MS Excel: This is a very basic spreadsheet that you can make yourself in minutes but it shows you how simple it is, follow the instructions from the book.
15: Evaluation Form – Event – MS Word: Purpose made evaluation form for use after an event. Very useful, easy to re-configure. Add your logo and you are off!
